Making the blue blazer un-mundane

Yes, Yes I know every men’s style publication and retail salesman is trying to sell you one. It’s definitely a staple but lets focus on how to style it. Of course we know you can easily get away with wearing the standard navy blazer with chinos or heather grey dress trousers. Cool, you got that down right? Let’s now discuss other ways to style this wardrobe staple. This blazer choice has been known to speak business and all things professional. It’s super versatile and can easily take you from day to night when paired appropriately. One of the many benefits to a navy jacket is that it essentially works with just about anything. Next time you pull yours out, simply bypass your dress trouser section and head to your best fitting pair of distressed jeans. Don’t have any? Well, what are you waiting for? Grab a pair. Trust me they will definitely come in handy this spring.

The fit is key here. Wait, fit is always key…you know what I mean. Opt for a pair thats slightly slim(not skinny) through the leg and tapered near the ankle. This will give you more comfort and mobility while you’re out there handling business and getting things done. Now….the jacket…this Spring, try one with a softer shoulder(minimal padding) and a deconstructed construction(minimal lining). This will keep you cool during the warmer months.

When these two pieces are paired together there’s an undeniable cool factor that is created. The distressed nature of the denim lends the look an effortless nonchalance, while the structure of the jacket elevates the look. Wear your favorite white sneaker or tasseled loafer(the cuff roll is optional). I styled my look with a spread collar and a knit tie. It was the perfect buttoned up without being too buttoned up look….if that makes sense.
