The Take – Tom Ford Fall 2018 Menswear

There always seems to be a palpable air of edgy confidence surrounding a Tom Ford show, and as you can imagine this showing exuded this without failure. Tailored structure combined with a very current array of oversized parkas and soft shouldered long coats is prominent throughout this collection. The collection itself possesses a witty duality of newness and reminiscent classics colliding in typical TF fashion. It offers a certain maturity and elegance that is much needed to help provide balance within the fashion landscape of menswear, which has seemingly focused on youthful streetwear. We love it all, but it’s always refreshing to see other avenues being explored in the marketplace.

The sheer wearability of this collection is captivating. I mean, I’m not sure who can make a metallic gold denim jacket and a snakeskin printed parka appear as cool and effortlessly chic as Tom. It’s very obvious to see that the cleverly constructed outerwear choices shined bright within his presentation. However the formal wear literally shined even brighter through his tasteful usage of high gloss finishes on dinner jackets adorned with wide shawl lapels. All in all this collection was nicely executed and proved to be one of my favorite collections of NYFW. TF never disappoints per the usual.
